Jurassic decoration
To create a striking prehistoric atmosphere, transform your party space into a genuine Jurassic jungle that will awe every young guest. Adopt a natural color palette of dark green, earthy brown, sandy beige, and touches of lava red that immediately evokes a dinosaur landscape. Arrange large green houseplants borrowed from around your home, ferns if possible, to recreate the lush prehistoric vegetation. Green crepe paper vines hung from the ceiling and tropical leaves cut from cardboard will complete this primeval forest spectacularly.
The showpiece of your decoration should be a volcano made from cardboard or papier-mache, reigning supreme at the center of the snack table. To build it, form a cone shape using chicken wire or stiff cardboard, cover it with papier-mache painted brown and gray, and add red and orange crepe paper at the summit to simulate flowing lava. Arrange dinosaur figurines of various sizes all around the volcano and across the table, between plates and cups. Gray painted crumpled paper rocks and white cardboard bones scattered across the tablecloth add realistic details that budding paleontologists will absolutely love.
Stick large dinosaur footprints on the floor leading from the entrance all the way to the party room, creating a prehistoric trail for guests to follow. You can cut these from brown cardboard or draw them in chalk if the party is outdoors. Hang dinosaur silhouettes cut from cardboard on walls and windows — T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and Pterodactyl are all instantly recognizable to children. For an educational touch that parents will appreciate, add each dinosaur's name beneath its silhouette — young enthusiasts will be impressed and the decoration gains a wonderful blend of fun and learning.
